Current Wind Conditions on Doljo Beach, Panglao

When is the Windy Season in Bohol?

Amihan Season

There are two wind seasons in the Philippines. From October through May is the Amihan wind season, which gets the the steady northeast tradewinds. Winds are typically lighter and less consistent starting in November and pick up through the peak months of January and February, where winds can be anywhere from 12-20+ knots.

In March, the tradewinds can become lighter and less consistent, though there is often still good easterly wind through May. Easterly direction isn’t always ideal for Panglao Island, though, so when we get wind from the East we go to spots like Pamilacan Island, Dimiao, Garcia Hernandez, or Anda.

Habagat Season

From June through September is Habagat season, which is characterized by winds from the southwest. Habagat wind is generated by storms passing around or through the Philippines. Winds can be anywhere from 10 to 30 knots. August and September are typically the best months during Habagat season but every year is a bit different.
